Russell was part of the award-winning short film Scummy Man, based on the song "When the Sun Goes Down" by the Arctic Monkeys The film won an award for "Best Music DVD" at the 2007 NME Awards.
In his career, Russell has worked predominantly in theatre performing at the Goetheanum in Switzerland performing Shakespeare in ‘Pericles Prince of Tyr’ the legendary Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, Royal Exchange in Manchester, though as a multi-disciplinary actor his work has included roles in film, Voice-over, television, commercials, murder mysteries, musicals and much-lauded live performances on Sky Arts. He landed his first big feature film role in 2018/2019, cast in the hit family movie 'Adventure Boyz' playing the part of bungling comedy criminal 'Simpson'. The feature film premiered at Cannes to rave reviews and was distributed worldwide. He is also the voice/narrator of the 8 part paranormal TV series ‘Unexplained Caught On Camera’
Various feature film roles followed including playing the role of DI Buckley in gritty thriller ‘Six Years Gone’ & ‘The Locksmith’ in 'The Lockdown Hauntings' his second feature film with director Howard J Ford. The film was shown in Singapore and the US starring Tony Todd & Angela Dixon.
Russell's biggest role to date is in the upcoming medieval horror fantasy 'Witch' playing the role of Thomas, worldwide release expected Oct/November 2022 produced by Skylark Vision
